Liberal Democrat district councillors choose Paul de Kort as their new leader

Paul will replace Chris White who retired from the role earlier this month after approximately 16 years in district politics.

Paul de Kort said, “It is an honour to be appointed by my colleagues. I am excited to spearhead the work of our fantastic team who are fully focused on keeping this district moving forward.

“I have been a resident in this district for 32 years, so I know what a great place it is to live and work. I have witnessed just how much it has changed in that time and understand that for St Albans City and District to thrive we must keep looking forward.

“I am proud that the Liberal Democrats have been energetic in protecting our local environment, addressing the housing crisis, and supporting the most vulnerable in our local communities. I will ensure we sustain this drive and ambition.’’

Other leadership positions will be determined over the coming days and notified to the Full Council meeting on 22 May.
