Marshalswick East and Jersey Farm

Your Marshalswick East and Jersey Farm Lib Dem candidates for the May 2022 St Albans district council elections are Raj Visram, Lorraine Kirby and Elissa Da Costa-Waldman

District councillor Raj Visram has been active with local charities since moving to St Albans in 2007. Since being elected in May 2020, he has been involved in improving open spaces, safer roads and the post-pandemic regeneration of local businesses. He also works with other organisations to improve health and well-being in the area and increase training and employment opportunities. His interests include wine, cooking and, when possible, travel

Lorraine Kirby has lived in Marshalswick for 31 years and was inspired to become a local councillor by the community spirit shown in the area during lockdown. With a background in marketing communications and international trade, Lorraine has a special interest in local housing, green initiatives and culture. When she’s not working on helping Marshalswick and Jersey Farm be the best they can be, Lorraine can be found baking bread, travelling, and singing with a local community jazz band.

Elissa Da Costa-Waldman is a relative newcomer to St Albans, having moved here with her late husband in 2013. She is, however, used to working in the community having been a leading light in the St Albans United Synagogue for some years, now looking to help the wider local community as a councillor with a particular interest in bringing different religious and cultural communities together. Elissa is also a barrister, author and grandmother of seven for whom she enjoys exercising her culinary skills.
