Nuala Webb (District Councillor)

Email: parkstreet@stalbanslibdems.org.uk

Nuala Webb first moved to St Albans in 1986 and has lived in Park Street since 2012. Following careers as a VSO teacher in Papua New Guinea, and history teacher in the UK, and 10 years in the City as a financial analyst, she and Mike raised 3 children, who all attended local schools.

Nuala has a record of successful campaigning, leading the fight to stop the first maternal health department – the Silver Star Unit in the JR Hospital in Oxford from being closed, also getting people power to install a road crossing in Fleet, Hants in the teeth of Conservative county council and district opposition, and working to save a local Zambian charity which educates and houses street children.

His two sons attended How Wood School (for which he was a school governor) and Parmiters.  He is a teacher of maths and IT at Oaklands college, part time since retiring. He first became a member of the Liberal party in 1970 and now hopes to serve the community as a councillor.

Syed Abidi (District Councillor)

Email: parkstreet@stalbanslibdems.org.uk

Phone: 07980 323673

District councillor Syed Abidi has lived in Park Street for over 30 years. He was an effective District Councillor from 1996 to 1999, before his job became too busy to allow him to continue. Having taken early retirement from the Diplomatic Service, he is now free to take up local politics again to serve his local community. Syed is now serving again as a District Councillor since May 2019.

As well as his concerns regarding the future of the proposed freight terminal site, his priorities are speed reductions to 20mph on village roads and improving the maintenance of roads and public spaces.
