Despite the claims of some, there has been a real terms cut in the funding being made available for services such as care for the elderly and young people.

Your Local Liberal Democrat Councillors opposed the budget and called for additional monies to improve road safety near schools and to do more to tackle flooding. We also objected to the cuts to youth services.

The county council could afford to do what we proposed, but chose not to.

Your local Lib Dem councillors also opposed the Conservative's cutting the locality budget from £10,000 per county councillor per year to £5,000, reducing councillors ability to make modest but vital awards of funding to small local organisations and community groups.

Your local Liberal Democrat Councillors will continue to push for better funding for our local resources.
