Allison Wren, Harry Hill, Mel Priggen and Paul de Kort are your local Lib Dem team in Harpenden North working hard all year round for residents.
The Harpenden North ward covers the Roundwood area and the streets North of the Nickey Line and Ox Lane down to the Lea River.
Allison Wren has lived in Southdown since 2013 and is a pharmacologist and entrepreneur who has spent 40 years in biomedical research and product development. She is opposed to an “them and us” mentality believes that it is only by listening and devolving decision-making to local people that we will achieve a more empowered and happier society. She wants greater action on roads and pavements - supporting “20s Plenty” - and will promote social housing and green spaces.
Harry Hill has lived in Harpenden all his life and is passionate about Harpenden being a great place to grow up in; some of his fondest memories are playing cricket on the Common and football in Rothamsted Park with friends. The brilliant, groups, open spaces and warm community spirit motivated him to be elected as a Town Councillor, where he campaigns for improved sports facilities and more accessible footpaths, so that everyone can enjoy the parks and green spaces in Harpenden.
Melanie Priggen is a local mum of 4 school-age children. She loves living in Harpenden for the community spirit and friendly High Street, but enjoys the fact we are surrounded by beautiful local countryside. In her free time she is a scout leader, an allotment gardener (even if its mainly slugs) and a keen runner. By being on the Town Council she hopes to help improve facilities for Harpenden residents and in particular for the almost forgotten group of young people, by making our community spaces more attractive for socialising, and being active through sports, exercise and play.
Paul de Kort has lived in Harpenden for 28 years and watched his children thrive in their passage through Mandland and Sir John Lawes schools. He has coached various youth football teams, and made good use of the sports, leisure and cultural facilities that the local area offers. After a successful 14 year career as a commercial manager in the Oil & Gas industry he became a teacher and, until the end of last summer, was a long-standing Head of Sixth Form at a local state school. He is passionate about supporting all in our community to enjoy the opportunities that his family did. His work as a Town Councillor is focused on creating a Healthy Harpenden fit for a rapidly changing world.
