Matt Farrell, Iqbal Zia and Anthony Rowlands are the Liberal Democrat team in Ashley
Matt Farrell has lived all his life in Hertfordshire. He attended school in Borehamwood and Elstree. Since 2007 Matt has worked as an IT professional within the Financial Services sector in Central London so he shares the commuting experiences of many Ashley residents. Matt and Laura have two small children. They are well aware of the challenges faced by younger people living in St Albans. Matt also has experience of working on community projects.

Iqbal Zia has impressed many with his strong community values and determination to get things done for Ashley ward since first getting elected in 2007. In his professional life he has worked with young people for many years, both as a teacher and a youth adviser. He is involved in a large number of local organisations, including Fleetville Community Group. Iqbal’s priorities for the district council going forward are protecting the Green Belt and delivering more funding for road repairs.

Anthony Rowlands is Deputy Leader of the District Council. He has represented Ashley Ward since 2006 and before that Marshalswick South for 17 years. He is also County Councillor for St Albans East ( Ashley and Cunningham ). A native of the Isle of Wight, he has lived in the City since 1980. His late wife, Harriet, taught at Beaumont School and both their children attended local schools. Apart from being an avid runner - he has completed the St Albans Half Marathon 36 times - he is a devoted supporter of Burnley FC and St Albans City FC.
