David Yates has known St Stephen’s for over thirty years, and lived in the area since 1999. Dave has represented Park Street and Bricket Wood East on the District Council for the last twelve years.
As a former school governor, youth theatre organiser, trades unionist, and chair and founder of residents’ associations in both Cardiff and London, he has been a strong voice for local residents.
As well as his passion for the St Stephen’s area, David is keenly interested in planning. In addition to helping innumerable residents secure – or fight against – planning permissions, he is Vice Chair of the committee putting together the new Local Plan for St Albans. One of David’s current aims is to see more cooperation between County and District councils on planning matters.
Dave's priorities are:
- Reversing the cuts in spending on roads and pavements
- Reducing waste and vanity projects at County Hall
- Ensuring cooperation between County and District on planning and school places
- Restoring grants to voluntary groups who deliver so much benefit at so little cost
