London Colney Garden Village Consultation

We the undersigned

  1. Note the ongoing consultation taking place in Hertsmere District regarding the building of a garden village around Coursers Farm and Salisbury Hall.
  2. Note that the proposed village will be joined to London Colney but that no consultation is taking place with London Colney residents in St. Albans District.
  3. Note that any development will have a major impact on the transport infrastructure around London Colney which is already overloaded.
  4. Note that the boundary between St. Albans and Hertsmere runs through London Colney, with McDonalds, the Holiday Inn Express and Mosquito Museum all in Hertsmere.

Call upon Hertsmere borough and St. Albans district councils

  1. to work together on strategic developments in the London Colney area and ensure that residents on both sides of the border are effectively consulted on any proposals
  2. to jointly work together to address existing issues affecting the transport infrastructure in the London Colney area.

Disgraceful, London Colney again being dumped on. You can bet your life the infrastructure around us won’t change, we already need more dentists, doctors and schools etc, not to mention potentially the 16.000 more vehicles and 30.000 more people coming in, the mind boggles. The area just will not cope. I know we need more housing in the UK but surely we should be building them in less built up areas and give businesses incentives to re locate, i.e. Milton Keynes, Telford etc. and finally i don’t expect the housing will go to anyone other than immigrant refugee family or ex Isis terrorists returning from failed training missions in Afghanistan and the likes…. (BBC news today Oct 30th 2017).

I have already signed this petition, but I am doing so again because the Hertsmere Borough Council website where a person can allegedly comment on the plan (as reported by St. Albans newspapers this week) is the most complicated, convoluted, ill-constructed website I have used since 1998. Once I found where I was supposed to be able to comment (by clicking ‘here’), I was directed to an ‘Error 404: page not found’ page.

I will be writing via Royal Mail to the Hertsmere Borough Council.

Another thing, the map used which shows Hertsmere in isolation as opposed to with the surrounding area (London Colney, Colney Heath, Potters Bar) adds to the disingenuity of the ‘consultation,’

London Colney Bell roundabout is congested at most times of the day, if there is an accident on the M25 which there very often is the area becomes grid locked. The High Street is also very busy most of the day. So I strongly object to this size development for these reasons and more.
