London Colney Garden Village Consultation

We the undersigned

  1. Note the ongoing consultation taking place in Hertsmere District regarding the building of a garden village around Coursers Farm and Salisbury Hall.
  2. Note that the proposed village will be joined to London Colney but that no consultation is taking place with London Colney residents in St. Albans District.
  3. Note that any development will have a major impact on the transport infrastructure around London Colney which is already overloaded.
  4. Note that the boundary between St. Albans and Hertsmere runs through London Colney, with McDonalds, the Holiday Inn Express and Mosquito Museum all in Hertsmere.

Call upon Hertsmere borough and St. Albans district councils

  1. to work together on strategic developments in the London Colney area and ensure that residents on both sides of the border are effectively consulted on any proposals
  2. to jointly work together to address existing issues affecting the transport infrastructure in the London Colney area.

I am very concerned at this proposed development on Green Belt land, in an area where the infrastructure is already pushed to its limits yet will be expected to cope with 8000 new homes – meaning around 10000 extra cars, 25-30000 extra people all of whom will need doctors, dentists, school places, hospitals and around 200 litres of water each per day.

what a crazy situation build more houses in the wrong place with absolutely no idea about the village infrastructure, are they going to provide more Doctors surgery’s or do they expect our two existing surgery’s cope with the influx of people. If we need more housing why in heavens name are there proposals to take down the Ridgeway that houses people to put unwanted shops in there place.

The proposal to develop a Garden Village on the borders of Shenley and London Colney will have an extremely detrimental affect to the quality of life of those living in London Colney and Shenley alike.

    - The infrastructure in London Colney is already suffering:

    - Traffic conjestion is heavy on a daily basis but becomes gird-locked if there is an incident on the M25

    or the A414

    - The Bell Roundabout cannot cope with its current volume of traffic

    - London Colney High Street comes to a stand-still on a regular basis.

    - Neither of the main roads through London Colney or Shenley were built for the amount of traffic they

currently service and definitely could not cope with any additional vehicles.

    - Standing traffic causes high levels of air pollution and any further degradation of air quality will have

a detrimental affect on the health of residents.

    - London Colney often floods during heavy rainfall and this will increase if more green land is

    concreted over.

    - There is currently no Secondary school to service London Colney students who travel to St. Albans for

    their education

    - Primary schools in the area are at maximum capacity

    - Doctors Surgeries will become overwhelmed with a further influx of additional residents

I am also disgusted with the way the Hertsmere Consultation Process has been conducted to-date as London Colney residents have only just found out about the proposed development on their dorr-step despite them potentially being the worse affected.

Once again, the residents are the last to know and very last minute.WE had the same with the biodigester at Coursers Farm….built before we knew about time….

How many of these Councillors live in the affected area……do they have to try to get out and back to Colney Heath….impossible now..so what will it be like iwith another 2000 cars ….
