London Colney Garden Village Consultation

We the undersigned

  1. Note the ongoing consultation taking place in Hertsmere District regarding the building of a garden village around Coursers Farm and Salisbury Hall.
  2. Note that the proposed village will be joined to London Colney but that no consultation is taking place with London Colney residents in St. Albans District.
  3. Note that any development will have a major impact on the transport infrastructure around London Colney which is already overloaded.
  4. Note that the boundary between St. Albans and Hertsmere runs through London Colney, with McDonalds, the Holiday Inn Express and Mosquito Museum all in Hertsmere.

Call upon Hertsmere borough and St. Albans district councils

  1. to work together on strategic developments in the London Colney area and ensure that residents on both sides of the border are effectively consulted on any proposals
  2. to jointly work together to address existing issues affecting the transport infrastructure in the London Colney area.

I’m particularly concerned about the effect this settlement will have on local infrastructure and the sustainability of a settlement in this position. A settlement here starts to coalesce London Colney and Hatfield.

I am infuriated that there has been no consultation concerning this development. As things are we haven’t the infrastructure to cope with such a demand. Our roads are overloaded, inadequate and verging on becoming quite dangerous and to introduce such a proposal will undoubtably add chaos to what is at near breaking point already.

This proposed village is next to London Colney, and a very busy road network. Consultation with all local groups is essential to determine its impact.

This will impact London Colney far more than other villages as london colney being the closest village. We have all the ammenities the inhabitants of these new houses will need, be sure they will take full advantage of all of them. Sainsbury,s and all the others on the Colney Fields estate must be rubbing their hands together, they may have even offered incentives.

This proposal is very worrying. The site under consideration is a haven for wildlife including protected species such as badgers and bats. Ground nesting birds are also present.

What hospital will the new residents use? Are there going to be new schools provided? New roads? More police, fire brigade? All very worrying!!!

I was not aware of this proposal until today (15/10/17) and am outraged at the lack of communication from St Albans District Council regarding such a significant structure change that will will greatly affect the residents of London Colney.

This appears to be a cynical attempt by Hertsmere to build housing right at the edge of their district and dumping all of the resulting infrastructure problems, schools, hospitals etc. onto the St. Albans district. St. Albans district council should take note and oppose this.

I recently moved to London Colney as I liked the village feel of it and all the countryside around it. If this development takes place it will turn London Colney into a town and put to much pressure on roads and facilities – not why I moved here

We don’t have the infrastructure for this many new homes. Our village is turning into more of a town and traffic is already a nightmare, especially at the Bell roundabout.
