London Colney Garden Village Consultation

We the undersigned

  1. Note the ongoing consultation taking place in Hertsmere District regarding the building of a garden village around Coursers Farm and Salisbury Hall.
  2. Note that the proposed village will be joined to London Colney but that no consultation is taking place with London Colney residents in St. Albans District.
  3. Note that any development will have a major impact on the transport infrastructure around London Colney which is already overloaded.
  4. Note that the boundary between St. Albans and Hertsmere runs through London Colney, with McDonalds, the Holiday Inn Express and Mosquito Museum all in Hertsmere.

Call upon Hertsmere borough and St. Albans district councils

  1. to work together on strategic developments in the London Colney area and ensure that residents on both sides of the border are effectively consulted on any proposals
  2. to jointly work together to address existing issues affecting the transport infrastructure in the London Colney area.

London Colney residents need to be consulted on this due to the impact it will have on our day to day lives. I don’t understand how this has progressed to this point without it being deemed appropriate to discuss with the residents – this should not be allowed.

Every surrounding area should be consulted on such a vast amount of houses being built. This would completely affect the lifestyle of the residents in all the areas and totally ruin our countryside. Yes, houses need to be built, but not so many in one place.

Dumping 8000 homes right on the edge of their boundary has alarm bells ringing for me.

Another example of the omnishambles that politics is today…

I’m not opposed to well planed, beautiful, responsible developments that will also enhance the quality of life for existing residence with improved infrastructure and community facilities; I am opposed to parasitical, add-on, slave box dormitories that massively enrich a few while leaving the community poorer..

I am a resident of Colney Heath and this is the first I have heard of such a major development just down the road! It will have a huge impact on the area so the authorities MUST work together and take on board the concerns of local residents.
