Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Daisy Cooper has received the backing of cross-party group "More United" as the best candidate to become the next MP for St Albans.
"More United" is a nation-wide group. Inspired by the words of the late Jo Cox MP, it is a crowd funding platform for people who want to back candidates who share their values rather than political parties.
They have donated £6,000 to Daisy's campaign and are asking all their members in the area to volunteer for her campaign.
More United is also backing candidates such as Labour's Chukka Umunna, Green Party co-Leader Caroline Lucas, the pro-EU Conservative Anna Soubry and Lib Dem heavyweight Vince Cable.
A More United spokesperson said:
“We are delighted to endorse Daisy Cooper, and know they will work tirelessly to bring about opportunity for St Albans. More United supports good people who share our values and will help create a less divisive kind of politics and a better Britain. We want to change the way politics works by giving people the opportunity to unite and strengthen their local communities. We wish Daisy Cooper every success in the election.”
Daisy also has the backing of local cross-party group "St Albans for Europe".
