We are delighted to announce that Dr Julian Huppert, until May the MP for Cambridge will be our speaker for our Annual Dinner this year.
His Commons career showed him as a fierce defender of our freedoms, opposing internet snooping by the Government, as well as voting against airstrikes on Syria and increases in tuition fees. He also promised a private member's bill which would have required planning permission to demolish or change the use of a pub or independent shop, something dear to the heart of many in St Albans, the home of CAMRA.
He is currently a fellow of Clare College, Cambridge and was noted as one of the few MPs in the House of Commons who could be described as a scientist.
