The “Hands Off Herts” e-petition has now gathered more than 1200 online signatures, and more are being added daily. It is firmly in the top 200 petitions on the Prime Minister’s website out of more than 7,300 tabled.
I am very pleased that Anne Main MP has now followed her parliamentary colleague Grant Schapps MP and numerous local councillors and has signed the paper version of the petition. We have produced paper versions for people who do not have internet access. Hundreds have signed and there are people all over the district gathering signatures and sending them back to me.
Because of the local election campaign, I have been in many streets and I have knocked on many doors. I always wear a sticker with the Hands Off Herts logo and it is very obvious that the message has struck a chord with local people at all levels and in all areas. It has also played particularly strongly in local schools when I have spoken to sixth form audiences.
